Golden apple snail (Pomacea canaliculata)

Golden apple snail (Pomacea canaliculata) is easy to find in the rice fields or on the edge of stagnant waters in Indonesia. Snails are able to produce eggs during her life as much as 15-20 groups each group numbered approximately 500 grains. Snails eggs in Indonesia has been used as crackers and juice (a healthy drink) allegedly due to mineral content (calcium) and a fertilizer high growth stimulating substances (PGR) organic presumably because the high carotenoid content. This study aims to determine the mineral content of macro-and micro total carotenoid eggs snails (Pomacea canaliculata). The study begins with the collection of data in the form morphometric size and weight of the eggs group snails, subsequent proximate analysis, mineral analysis, and analysis of total carotenoids. Collecting data in the form of morphometric size, weight, results of proximate analysis, mineral, and total carotenoids done in fresh condition. Snails eggs obtained from the Village area fishing pond Situ Gede, Bogor Barat, Bogor and Swimming Experiment Aquaculture, Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Bogor Agricultural University. One group of snails eggs have an average length of 3.7 ± 0.7 cm; average width of 2.2 ± 0.3 cm; average height of 1.2 ± 0.3 cm; and an average weight of 4.4 ± 1.4 grams. The results of the proximate analysis apple snail eggs that water content 75.55 ± 3.20%, ash content of 13.81 ± 3.37%, protein content of 3.32 ± 0.22%, ± 0.19 fat 0.00% , and carbohydrate content of 7.12 ± 0.11%. Snails eggs ash content (13.81 ± 3.37%) was higher than snails meat ash content (3.20%), como tuna eggs (1.79%), sea urchin eggs (2.25%) , and catfish eggs (0.48 to 3.98%). Macro mineral content snails eggs from the highest to the lowest, namely calcium (17925.18 ± 116.64 ppm), sodium (402.92 ± 4.55 ppm), potassium (252.02 ± 12.06 ppm), phosphorus ( 197.28 ± 0.33 ppm), and magnesium (112.29 ± 0.36 ppm). Calcium content of apple snail eggs is higher than the calcium content of mullet eggs and meat snails. High calcium content in the egg shell snails caused the snails eggs. Micro mineral content of apple snail eggs are the highest to the lowest, namely copper (10.16 ± 0.33 ppm), iron (7.83 ± 0.14 ppm), Kontes SEO 2014 and zinc (5.28 ± 0.05 ppm). Total carotenoid eggs snails are 313.48 ± 19.73 ppm, higher than the total carotenoids of various hybrid carrot (60.21 ± 0.66 to 79, 47 ± 0.42 ppm) and chinook salmon egg (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) (17.9 ppm).
